Motorola Droid: How to Send Text Message

For people that are used to old types of phones, it may not be easy to figure out how to send a text message on the Motorola Droid. Here’s how it’s done.

1. Open the Messaging application.

2. The form will look like an email message application to some. In the To field you can type a phone number you’d like to send your message to.

3. Type your message in the Type to compose box.

4. Tap Send when you’re ready.

Your text message should be on its way to its destination.

When you enter contact info, the number has to be listed as a mobile phone for the number to come up when you start to type they’re name

When I send a text message via the messaging application, it does not go as an SMS message, it goes as a simple TXT message. There does not seem to be any way to choose TXT, SMS or MMS. Is there a way to do this with the included applications on the droid, or can you recommend a reliable download app for messaging, free or paid?

    Thanks

Who types in phone numbers these days? For that matter, who knows anyone’s phone number these days.

I’ve managed to type in a person’s name and _sometimes_ it comes up with the contact’s name and number. For some reason this does not always work.

when creating a text message on a Droid…do I have to freakin’ type in the number?????

The above directions states “in the to field you can type in your number….”

No fooling!! Anyone knows you “can” type in a number to contact a recipient…..

The question is: Is there a shortcut to “contacts” that eliminates the need to type in a number???????

    Thanks for any input
