After installing the 2.01 update for my Motorola Droid, my Gallery application on the home screen doesn’t work. When I tap the icon, it throws up an error message:

Application is not installed on your phone

The icon on the application slider works though. So it looks like I just need to recreate the icon on the home screen.

1. Tap and hold the Gallery icon on the home screen.

2. Drag it to the trash.

3. Tap the application slider.

4. Tap and hold Gallery.

5. Drag the icon to the home screen.

After 3 techs at verizon and 1 at motorola, I now find the only site with the answer. Verizon even sent me a new phone (same gallery issue after update). To clarify to move an icon you have to press and hold for a couple of seconds. You will then be able to move it by sliding it. Another way to do it is to hold down on the blank part of your home screen. A menu will appear that says shortcuts. Press and then press applications, and then gallery.

The Application Slider is the tab where all the apps are located. It’s a little gray tab on the home screen with a small triangle on it. Drag it out and Gallery will be listed in there somewhere.

Thank you so much for this information! It was the first site that came up when I did a Google search regarding the topic. After doing the latest update on my phone last night, I encountered this problem. Knowing that my information was still on my SD card, I still had a moment of panic wondering how I was going to access my photos. Thanks again!

Thanks – this tip worked perfectly. My Gallery came up with the same error and I was worried that the 2.0.1 update lost my pictures but it didn’t.

I don’t have a Motorolla, but I just want to take the time to tell you what a service you are providing the public.

I have a few blogs and one of them is my Business Technology blog, which I haven’t had the time to update for awhile, but one of the posts that drew a lot of comments wan the one on how I resolved the problem that Safari froze in my iPod Touch. And you know what, almost all of those that commented didn’t have a blog or website. How cool is that?
