Motorola Droid: Delete Email Account

If you no longer want a certain email account to appear in the Email app on your Motorola Droid, you can remove it. Here are the steps to help you.

1. Open the Email app.

2. Press the Menu button.

3. Tap Accounts.

4. Tap and hold the account you wish to remove.

5. Tap Remove account.

    This doesn’t work for a Droid 4. You can add all the accounts you want, but it does not give you the option to remove any. SO IRRITATING.

    My Yahoo account wasn’t updating, so I deleted it and tried to add it back in. Every time I try to add it, anerror message says, “You have already added this account,” but it is not listed among the accounts I can sync or read. Pls help.

    It says everything will be removed from the account Is that just the 1 account that you are Removing It also says it will clear everything you need to go back to the default settings Afraid to try it

    hi i have a motorola droid a855 and can not delete the first email account on it cause that was my old email and i deleted it from gmail and now it asks for me to sign in and it wont let me and cant seem to do any of these steps on it. ive tried going to settings>applications>manage apps>filer all>google apps> but clear defaults is not selectable. ive tried tapping it and holding it on acounts&sync and nothing pops up. i have my new email account on there and it works great but since i put my old email when i got the droid i cant delete the first one. now it wont let me into market or calender cause it asks me to sign in.i have sync on manually cause this>! sign is always on in the top left corner saying error signing in. someone please help i dont want reset my phone to factory settings. let me know if you need more info to find out if i have some settings wrong

    Regarding the removal of your old gmail account, make sure that it is not the account that you used to set up gmail on your droid or that you don’t have 2 gmail accounts synced. That could be the reason you cannot remove it.

    I’ve been trying to delete a gmail account I no longer use and this tap and hold method is not working. When I try to follow this instruction it opens up the account.

    This was very helpful. Although I don’t know why I was getting invalid username/password when it was working just fine, other than I changed my yahoo password and maybe there was a syncing issue that did not pick up the new password.

    hotmail never worked properly. It kept force closing down. never delivers email correctly. It was driving me crazy but I did not know how to remove it.

    follow the instructions above. I had the same problem and it work, the trick is to tap the account and hold it until the menu to remove appears

    I cannot remove my outlook email nor calendar from my droid. My company laid me off and now when I press the icons, it insists on me seting up another corp email oe calendar acct. The menu button does not open a menu on these, so I cannot remove accts as suggested in this forum. Help!
