Motorola Droid: Change Email Ringtone Notification Sound
Posted by Mitch on Nov 10, 2009 under Android Tips | 7 CommentsThe notification sound my Motorola Droid was making every time I received an email message was annoying. I had to change the ringtone. Here’s how it’s done.
1. Open the Email or Gmail application. You may have to do these steps for both applications.
2. In the message list, press the Menu button.
3. Tap Account Settings.
4. Scroll down and tap Select ringtone.
5. Select a sound or select Silent. Then you can tap Vibrate on the previous screen if you like.

Email notification ringtone – I set it to ‘silent’, clicked OK, and it keeps defaulting to the ‘tada’ ringtone, even while still saying it’s on ‘silent’. What am I doing wrong?

Clicked OK? Are you sure you’re on the right screen? There is no OK on the selection screen. Be sure you are actually checking the box instead of just previewing the tone.

THANK YOU! That was driving me crazy since I have multiple e-mail addresses coming to my phone I either turned it off (so I missed text messages)or received notifications tones every 3 minutes.

Hey I need help with this one…. I have several accounts. yahoo hotmail and aim…… when I check like upbove it on one account it unchecks the others. How can I get the all to have different sounds and stay on?

When I go to the email application and press the menu button, I only get the following menu options…Refresh, Compose, and Add account. I only get the account options when I go to gmail. Any adivce???

Please help?? I was trying to change the NOTIFICATION RINGTONE; a window popped up with choices of ‘use ____ as default.’ I accidentally checked that, and now my only choices are long music ringtones (that I had put on my phone for ringtones). All I want is a short sound for notifications; however, I cannot find anywhere to let me change the default setting! It’s so frustrating! Any help at all will be greatly appreciated.

Carol – did you get a response to your problem with the default “use ____ as default”? I did the same thing & can’t figure out how to change it back. Thanks!
