Microsoft Outlook Error: “The address list could not be displayed”
Posted on Nov 19, 2007 under Office Tips |When you create a new email from your Contacts, Outlook throws the following error message:
“The address list could not be displayed. The Contacts folder associated with this address list could not be opened; it may have been moved or deleted, or you do not have permissions. For information on how to remove this folder from the Outlook Address Book, see Microsoft Outlook Help.”
This means the Outlook Address Book is damaged and must be reinstalled. Follow these steps to do so:
1. Click Tools–>E-mail Accounts.
2. Click View or change existing directories or address books, then click Next.
3. Click Outlook Address Book, and then click Remove.
4. Click Yes when you receive the prompt to confirm the removal.
5. Click Add, then Additional Address Books, and then click Next.
6. Click Outlook Address Book, then Next.
7. Click OK to the message to restart Outlook and click Finish.
10. Click File–>Exit then relaunch Outlook.
11. In the Folder list, right-click the folder that you want to use with the Address Book (for example, right-click Contacts), and then click Properties.
12. Click the Outlook Address Book tab.
13. Ensure the Show this folder as an e-mail Address Book check box is selected and click OK.
The problem should be solved. If you still experience problems, you may want to recreate your Outlook profile.
