Kindle Fire: Enable or Disable Screen Rotation

Sometimes the screen on the Amazon Kindle Fire will rotate annoyingly when you’re trying to read. Fortunately you can lock the screen in place and disable the screen rotation.

  1. On the Kindle Fire HD and HDX models, access the quick menu from the Home screen by sliding down the bar at the top of the screen. On the original Fire, tap the gear in the upper-right corner of the screen.
  2. Tap the Locked/Unlocked option to toggle the setting. When it says “Unlocked“, screen rotation is enabled.

I have the exact opposite problem. I really DON’T MIND if the screen rotates. Somehow, I have gotten my Kindle Fire tablet stuck on vertical. I was wiping the screen, and somehow got this thing stuck. I have checked every settings place on this tablet, and nowhere is a setting to unlock it. So…I’m stuck with a tablet where everything is squinty size, and it’s impossible to read or view my Netflix. Please, please, if someone knows how to instill this thing, I’d be very grateful! Thank You.
