Kindle Fire: How to Install APK Files

Android app files can come via an APK file. You can install APK files on the Amazon Kindle Fire tablet by enabling a setting and using ES File Explorer to launch it. Just follow these steps.

Note: Be careful about where you have obtained the APK file. Files that come from non-legitimate sources may be corrupted or contain viruses. Please know what you are doing before you proceed.

1. Download and install ES File Explorer from the Amazon appstore.

2. From the home screen select the settings gear and select More.

3. Select Device and set Allow Installation of Applications to On.

3. Open the Kindle Fire web browser and download the APK file. You can also transfer APK files from your computer by connecting the Kindle Fire to the computer with a USB cable.

4. From the home screen, select Apps and open ES File Explorer, then navigate to the location of the APK file. If you downloaded the APK file using the Kindle Fire web browser, the file should be located in the /sdcard/download folder. Tap the file to open it.

5. Tap Install.

The APK file will then install to the Kindle Fire and can be accessed under the Apps > Device selection.

Is dropbox app a built in app?

You need to place the apk into your Kindle Fire and run it. The easiest way if to get a Dropbox account and upload the APK to dropbox. Then you can download it from the Dropbox app in your Kindle Fire. After that, just run it. It will install ES file explorer on your Kindle Fire. Hope this helps.

once you downloaded the es file explorer ( latest version is 1.6), upload to your DROPBOX account ( http://www.dropbox.com). Go to dropbox website using your kindle fire and download the ESFE which you uploaded earlier. Install in KF
