Kindle: Disable 3G Connection

You may want to turn off the 3G connection on your Amazon Kindle to preserve battery life. If you live in an area with a poor 3G signal, the device will use a lot of energy searching for a signal.

Unfortunately, there isn’t a way to actually specify to the device that you want 3G off so it reverts to 2G or other slower connection. With the Kindle and wireless connections, it’s an all or nothing deal. The only way to disable the 3G connection is to turn wireless off completely.

1. From the Home screen, press Menu.

2. An option appears in the upper-right corner of the screen where you can Turn Wireless Off.

Note: This option will be Turn Wireless On if the wireless connection is already off.
