iPod Touch: How to Change Current Location
Posted by Mitch on Feb 25, 2010 under iPod Tips | No CommentThe location data on the iPod Touch is can be incorrect, forcing the need to change it manually. Unfortunately, there is no way to change the location manually using the iPod Touch itself. The device uses the Skyhook service to to determine your location through your Wi-Fi access point.
If you have recently moved, and the device is displaying the old location, you may need to try to change the SSID on the router to a new name. On Linksys routers, you can do this under Advanced setup > Wireless. Try to make it something unique, as that’s the way your location is determined by the iTouch.

If the location is consistently showing up incorrect while you are connected to the same Wi-Fi hotspot, you will need to submit a Wi-Fi access point to the Skyhook database.

You’ll need to find the longitude and the latitude of your location, the MAC Address to your router (go to the Status tab in the Linksys router setup), and email address. Once you submit this information, it can take over a week to take effect.
