How to Add or Remove Icon in Folder on iPhone or iPad

Manage folders like a pro on your Apple iPhone or iPad and add and learn how to remove icons to and from folders on the home screen. The feature was introduced in iOS 6. Here’s to use it.

Create a Folder

1. Tap and hold an icon on the Home screen for about 2 seconds until all the icons wiggle.

2. Drag an icon to another icon you wish to have in the same folder. Hold it there for about 2 seconds until the folder is created.

3. Arrange the icons in the order desired. Also give the folder a new name in the top box if desired. One is chosen automatically if you don’t care what the name is.

4. Press the Home button to save your changes. Press Home again to return to the Home screen. Your icon has a new place to live.

Add Icon to Folder

1. Tap and hold an icon on the Home screen for about 2 seconds until all the icons wiggle.

2. Drag the icon to the desired folder. Hold it there for about 2 seconds until you are taken inside the folder.

3. Drop the icon in a desired location within the folder.

4. Press the Home button to save your changes. Press Home again to return to the Home screen. Your icon has a new place to live.

 

Remove Icon from Folder

1. Tap the folder that contains the icon you wish to remove.

2. Tap and hold any icon for about 2 seconds until they wiggle.

3. Drag the icon you wish to move outside of the folder box.

4. Drag the icon to a desired spot on the Home screen.

5. Press the Home button at the bottom of the screen to save your changes.

Delete Entire Folder

A folder is deleted from the Home screen when you move all icons from the folder.
