Sometimes sounds that suddenly play on a web page can be annoying, especially on a work computer. Here is how to disable sounds in Internet Explorer.

1. Hold down the Windows key and press R (Or click Start > Run).

2. Type regedit and click OK.

3. Click the plus sign next to HKEY_CURRENT_USER
then Software
then Microsoft
then Internet Explorer
then click Main

4. Look for an entry on the right side for Play_Background_Sounds. Double-click the entry and change the value to no to disable sounds. Set it back to yes to if you wish to enable sounds again.
