IE7: Home Page Doesn’t Load

The Home Page doesn’t load when you first start Internet Explorer 7. Instead IE7 takes you to a page with a blue screen at http://runonce.msn.com/runonce2.aspx instead.

Try the following:

1. Click Start > Run and type REGEDIT and click OK.

2. Click the plus sign next to HKEY_CURRENT_USER
then Software
then Microsoft
then Internet Explorer
then Main

3. On the right side right-click on RunOnceHasShown and give it a value of 1.

If that doesn’t work, a Group Policy might be the reason this is happening. To correct this problem, follow these steps.

1. Click Start > Run and type gpedit.msc and click OK.

2. Under User Configuration click the plus sign next to Administrative Templates
then Windows Components
then Internet Explorer

3. On the right side double-click on Prevent performance of First Run Customize settings.

4. Change the setting for Prevent performance of First Run Customize settings to Enabled and use the drop-down box to select Go directly to home page.

Try Internet Explorer and the home page should load
