IE7: Disable Search Bar

1. Click Start (then run in Windows XP) and type Regedit.
2. Click on the plus sign next to HKEY_CURRENT_USER
then Software
then Policies
then Microsoft
then Internet Explorer
3. If the Internet Explorer key doesn’t exist, create one by right-clicking on the Microsoft key and select New > Key. If the Internet Explorer key is there, skip ahead to step 5.
4. Name the key Internet Explorer
5. Right-click on the Internet Explorer key and select New > Key
6. Name the key InfoDelivery.
7. Right-click an the InfoDelivery key and select New > Key
8. Name the key Restrictions.
9. You should now be at:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER \ Software \ Policies \ Microsoft \ Internet Explorer \ InfoDelivery \ Restrictions
Right-click the Restrictions key and select New > DWORD Value
10. Name the value NoSearchBox and click on a blank area of the window.
11. Double-click on the NoSearchBox value and give the value 1.
12. Close Regedit.
This will disable the Internet Explorer 7 search box from appearing from now on.
