HTC Thunderbolt: Enable/Disable LTE/4G

in Android, SmartPhone

You may wish to disable LTE/4G on your HTC Thunderbolt if you live in an area that doesn’t have Verizon’s LTE/4G service yet. Doing so may increase performance and save battery life because the device will constantly search for a stronger signal. Here’s how to turn it off.

1. Open the Phone app.

2. From the Phone tab, dial *#*#4636#*#*

3. A test screen will open. Tap Phone information.

4. Scroll down to the Set preferred network type setting and set it to CDMA auto (PRL).

LTE/4G is now disabled and your Thunderbolt will connect to the 3G network. If you ever wish to enable LTE again, you can set the preferred network type setting back to CDMA + LTE/EvDo auto.
