Perform a soft or hard reset on your Asus Transformer Pad Android tablet if it is not functioning correctly. Here’s how.
Soft Reset
You would want to soft reset the device in the event that it has become frozen or unresponsive. To do so, press and hold the Power button on the device for about 10 seconds until the device powers off.
Hard Reset
A hard reset (also known as a factory reset) will clear all data and settings from the memory of the device and set it back to factory default settings. You can perform hard reset on the Asus Transformer Pad using the Android OS menus or the hardware buttons.
Method 1
- Power the Eee Pad off.
- Press and hold the “Volume Down” button on the left side of the device, then press and hold the “Power” button.
- Continue to hold both buttons until a green Android screen appears.
- Use the volume buttons to toggle the setting to “RECOVERY MODE“. Press the “Power” button to make the selection.
- A screen that says “No command” should appear. Press and hold both “Volume Up” and “Power” for about 2 seconds. If you did it right, a new menu should appear.
- The Asus Transformer Pad will complete the hard reset process and reboot into a factory default state.
- Use the volume buttons to toggle the setting to “wipe data/factory reset“. Press the “Power” button to make the selection.
- Use the volume buttons to toggle the setting to “Yes — delete all user data“. Press the “Power” button to make the selection.
The hard reset will start. When finished, you will be prompted to reboot.
Method 2
- Open the “Settings” app.
- Select “Backup & reset“.
- Choose “Factory data reset“.
- Select “Factory data reset“.
I attempted to reset my transformer using the volume down/up plus power button to no avail like most people on here. I looked on YouTube and found another method intended for other asus models and it worked. From your password screen hold down the shift key than use the mouse to hit the restart button and it should bring you to the correct screen.
My asus is now rebooting to factory defaults. Don’t worry about the code it asks you to put in. Just hit skip this drive and you will be on your way.
Your welcome.
My Asus transformer book updated and now it will NOT turn back on. Its fully charged and even trying the hard reset is not working. I’m not sure what this last windows update did butt all my online work is on this transformer book HELP!!!!
ASUS T-300…This did nothing to help my problem. Touch screen is cracked, no bluetooth due to airplane mode. The screen was functional prior to ‘airplane’ mode even when screen was cracked. I’ve performed the ‘Hard Reset’ but nothing happens…I do get a small blue screen with ‘Window Boot Manager and Enter Setup’; can get into the setup utility…but can not make active…date is 05/07/2020 (I believe last time used). Can not use any of the “F” keys due to no bluetooth. Can’t change anything…that I am aware of…The battery is also “DEAD”.it will not take a charge??? So, I can’t get up to 20 percent or more to Initiate any changes…automatically. Pushing the two side buttons allows me to get to ‘down arrow’ to files…see name, power icon and search icon upper right…touching screen…nothing happens….narrator screen comes on…”another ease of access application is preventing Narrator from supporting touch.” The background picture continues to change….I can also get the ‘rainbow’ colors with the time and date (which is incorrect)., that shows the airplane icon and power level…I get the audio from ‘Narrator’ but only repeated ‘volumn up or down’. Then “Start Menu”, and “Windows”. I am also getting a ‘picture frame’ around the “my PC’ which was not there before…and off and on of the ‘Narrator’ box. Still no touch screen or blue tooth. And no Green screen. Is there anyway I can connect another laptop to the one that does not work? I can use the connection to see the screen on my TV (HDMI). I can also get to ‘recovery’, but can not use…buttons don’t work for this…attaching a USB is indicated at the upper right when I insert with mini attachment. I can load the tool I was given by a tech, that shows all the functions to make things happen, but unable to use any…I’ll

I cannot reset the Asus q19 plus tab when I press and hold the volume down and power button the green screen never appears what do I do I forget my password
My wife has an Asus tablet (8″) that she had not backed up data on. Youngest grandson (2 years old) appeared to attempt to log in to her device and somehow the device must have locked the device but also appears to have reset things. Funny part is that it does not appear to be a factory reset since apps that she downloaded were restored, however, the data with her apps did not. She has documents in a Notepad app and Word, plus pictures that she seemed to have lost. With my limited technical ability I have not been able to figure out what happened, but in looking at the storage it appears there is a lot of data stored, including in the Notepad app, though you can’t seem to locate any files. Trying to figure out if the data can be recovered.

After that it was different menus. But really, really helpful to get to that Recovery Screen. Once there just followed steps.
It did let me recustomize laptop, unfortunately the keypad now does not come up on tablet.

How do you use the recessed switch to reset the device correctly? Do you just use a pin to close the switch for 10 seconds? Do you need to hold any other buttons at the same time?
