How to Reset Zune

How to reset your Zune device if it is not responding.

Press back and up at the same time. This should reset the device. You may also need to plug it into a power source. Also make sure the hold switch on the top of your Zune device is set to “off” while you are performing these steps.

does doing this ,(pressing the back button and up at the same time, whike “hold” is off), erase EVERYTHING on your zune? coz my problem is that my zune is all frozen in restore mode after trying to update it with the latest firmware update (2.5). all i need is to get out of that mode, and back to the menu so i can sync things onto my zune again!! will resetting it do that. without erasing everything?, my point: i’m afraid to do this reset thing, for fear of losing everything i’ ve ever loaded onto my zune

I pulled my Zune off of another person’s computer (charging) on a trip, and when I got to the car I got the [!]- battery symbol. I used the above tip for resetting it, and now it appears to be charging correctly. Guess it locked up during charging or something. Kinda weird. Thanks.

in response to tarina/alex this is a problem I just fixed myself and to fix it you have to erase all songs that are like that and put them back on you Zune
