If your iPad keeps freezing up or is acting unresponsive, it might be time to reset the device. If you’ve already tried to force quit the app and things still aren’t working well, try these steps.
- Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button until the slider appears.
- Drag the slider.
- Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button until the Apple logo appears.
If this doesn’t fix the problem you’re experiencing, try the steps for a soft reset below. This will restart everything and start you off fresh.
Press and hold both the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button for about ten seconds. The Apple logo will appear, and the device should complete the soft reset.
Will the soft reset erase data from my device?
It shouldn’t, and I’ve never seen it happen. However, bad things can happen when things malfunction on rare occasions.
