Perform a hard reset on the HTC Windows Phone 8X if you are experiencing problems with the device.
Reset frozen device
If your 8X is not responding, and you just want to get back to using the device again, press and hold the Power button, then drag the window toward the bottom. The device should power off, then allow you to power it back on as normal. You should not lose any data when performing this type of reset unless there was a serious problem prior to the reset.
If you continuously experience problems with your device and wish to start over with a factory hard reset, there are two ways to do it. Note that all data will be deleted from the memory of the phone when you perform these steps.
1. Shut the device off by pressing and holding the Power button, then draging the window toward the bottom of the screen.
2. Once the device is powered off, press and hold Power once again to turn the device on.
3. Press and hold the Volume Down button on the right side of the device.
4. Once the (!) appears on the screen, press the following buttons in order.
- Volume Up
- Volume Down
- Volume Down
Now wait patiently as the device goes through the hard reset process and restarts.
Select right arrow > Settings > about > reset your phone > yes > yes.
Now hopefully you’re back to using your HTC Windows Phone 8X normally again.
