How to Hard and Soft Reset iPad Mini

If your Apple iPad Mini is locked up and unresponsive, then you may need to try to do a soft or hard reset on the device to get it into working order again.

Neither of these processes should mess with the data on your device, so if you’re looking to wipe the information from your iPad Mini, then you’ll probably want to perform a factory reset for that.

Steps to soft reset the iPad Mini

Try these steps first to restart the device.

1. Hold down the Sleep/Wake button until the red slider appears.

2. Drag the slider to turn the device off.

3. Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button until the Apple logo appears to turn the iPad Mini back on.

Steps to hard reset the iPad Mini

If a soft reset doesn’t work, then try to hard reset the device with these steps.

To hard reset the iPad Mini, just hold down the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time for about ten seconds until the Apple logo appears.

I don’t believe a factory reset sets that name different. You can connect the iPad to a computer with iTunes, double-click the name, then change the name.

Have a ipad mini I bought private party and in the ” About ” it says “students ipad”. I have tried resetting and erasing all data but it still says it. How do I totally erase all that information, restoring to factory setting as if brand new.
