How to Enable or Disable GPS on iPhone

Enable or disable GPS on the Apple iPhone smartphone. Turning the device  GPS on will allow you to use location based services.

You can access the setting by following these steps:

iOS 7 and iOS6

1. Tap Settings.

2. Select Privacy.

3. Select Location Services.

4. Set Location Services to On (green in iOS7, blue in iOS6) or off (white) as desired.

iOS5 and Lower

1. Tap Settings.

2. Choose Location Services.

3. Select and turn location services to on or off as desired.

In iOS 5 or higher, you can also set individual access to the GPS for each app from this screen. Location Services must be On to set GPS access for apps. When off, the options will not appear.

If you’re crazy about saving battery power, it is recommended that you turn the GPS off when you’re not using apps that need it. The GPS is one of the features on the iPhone that uses the most battery power.

When location services is on you have the option to chose what programs are allowed to use it. You should make sure that the program you want is (on) allowed to use gps.

I was wondering, when you shut this off will it save your battery life?
Does the normal unmodified iphone 4 use the gps when apps are not using it?
