If you wish to clear all settings from your Droid X, you can perform a hard reset on the device. A hard reset is normally used when you are selling your phone and need to clear the data or if things aren’t working properly and you wish to start anew.
Hard reset before device boots
1. Turn the phone off.
2. Hold the Power and Home buttons down for about 5 seconds.
3. A screen with an exclamation will appear. Press the Volume Down and Volume Up buttons simultaneously.
4. Scroll down to wipe data / factory reset using the Volume Down button.
5. Press the Power button to choose the selection.
6. Confirm the selection.
7. Select Yes — delete all user data.
8. Press Power to confirm.
The Droid X will then complete the hard reset.
Hard reset after device boots to Android OS
1. Open the Settings app.
2. Select Privacy.
3. Select Factory data reset.
4. Tap the Reset phone button.
5. Tap the Erase everything button to confirm the hard reset.
Thanks to txparamedic for the tip on the changes made to this process after the Gingerbread update.

So my Droid X was originally for Verizon but I got it flashed to Metro PCS. I have a new phone now and the Droid X is of no use for me and I want to sell it. I did the factory reset but when I turned it back on, the main screen was showed the activation settings for Metro PCS. Is that normal? How will a potential buyer restore the phone back to Verizon?
Have you tried to boot in Safe Mode? Once you do that, see if you can undo what you did.
Ok. I changed the theme on my Droid X using Rom Toolbox after I rooted my phone. Now my status bar will not function for the life of me. Also because I changed this theme Rom Toolbox “Force Closes” on me everytime I try to access it now. I have done both the factory resets mentioned above and still cannot solve this issue with my status bar not functioning. I have also tried using other Rom manager apps to re-install my backup theme. I have had no luck what so ever. Does anybody have any suggestions on what I can possibly do from here to remedy this issue?
I have a droid x that recently updated to the .621 version and now I have no data tried reflashing resetting toggling airplane mode pulling the battery and still nothing any suggestions
My droid x was rooted with .605 Petes motorolla root and I can’t unroot it to update it to .621, cant download most market apps either. Will a factory reset work for this?
Start the Droid X in Safe Mode, then see if you can reinstall it and switch back to the old launcher properly.
