Google Chrome: Manage Bookmarks

Some of my co-workers weren’t used to the Google Chrome interface and were a little freaked out that there wasn’t a special area where they could manage their bookmarks. They wanted to know where to go to delete or edit a bookmark.

If you click the Other Bookmarks button in the upper right corner, you can right-click the bookmark you wish to Edit, Delete, etc. and the options will appear.

I am a Mac user and was really impressed with Chrome for Mac until I started using it. They really have a long way to go to catch up with Firefox especially in bookmarks and add-ons. I like the speed but the frustration of trying to control the browser has me back using Firefox regularly.

I’m a MAC user and “right-click” (which is, control click for me) does not work when I try to delete a bookmark. This is ridiculous. Love google voice.. but I HATE google chrome. It’s just not worth the trouble.

    Very annoying lack of design.
The above advice does not work on Mac, btw. A right click on a bookmark in other bookmarks only takes you to that page.
I hope Google realizes this design mistake and fixes it soon. Chrome is great but Firefox is still greater. And slower.

It’s really annoying the bookmark column disappear once you do some editing, always need to reopen the bookmark column again! Who can help????

  5. JDub says:

Wow, this is pretty horrible. I can’t believe that this wasn’t thought of in development, hehe.

I have found you can do most things with Chrome that you can do with FF or IE. If you need help managing bookmarks I suggest you go here http://www.google.com/support/chrome/bin/answer.py?answer=95714&topic=14680.

“Why do these techies think we have time to keep relearning how and where things are. So annoying!!”

because otherwise we would still be using command line input

“after trying Google Chrome and can not delete the “Most visited” windows, I will not recommend people to use it.”

Click the wrench thing in the top right, click Options, under Homepage, choose open this page: and type in something you want.

You really tell me Google is that stupid regarding bookmarks? I always have high regards of Google product, after trying Google Chrome and can not delete the “Most visited” windows, I will not recommend people to use it.

Manage bookmark in chrome is a critical task
this feature need to more improvement.

  10. Mike says:

Yeah this sucks! My bookmarks show up all in a big “Imported from Firefox” folder. And the bookmark toolbar is all in a “Bookmarks Toolbar Folder” on the friggin toolbar. And there’s no way to fix it? This sucks Google!

Right – I was thinking of doing it in Firefox first like Kevin said, but I didn’t realize I would have to reinstall Chrome? Can’t I delete the bookmarks from Chrome and manage in Firefox and re-import?

Obviously this has to be a Beta version thing – every time I delete one bookmark the list disappears and I have to go find it again to delete the next.

Also the new tab showing all recently visited pages – that has to go (must have an option to show a blank tab).

Aside from that… um… well Chrome *Beta* is a great start but also a good thing it’s Beta.

How do I get text next to my icons? I did not appreciate having to keep googleing how to use Chrome and once again after hating vista with a passion, why don’t ya just keep the home button as a default on the toolbar, geez guys!
Why do these techies think we have time to keep relearning how and where things are. So annoying!!

  13. Kevin says:

Holy crap, that’s completely unsatisfactory. So if you decide to do any significant re-org of your bookmarks — something a little more complex than delete or relocate one single bookmark, you … what? Do it in Firefox and then re-install Chrome? Do those developers at Google actually USE browsers?

  14. Miguel says:

Definitly the management option for the bookmarks must be improved … a lot

  15. Mark G. says:

One at a time …. Oh joy!

  16. Svatlagi says:

Chrome can really use enhancements for managing bookmarks. All my porn links are on my bookmark bar. This isn’t good.

  17. i’m willing to try it out just to see if it works more efficiently than FireFox… if it’s faster than Firefox and isn’t IE, then i’ll use it
