Google Chrome: Bring Back “Most Visited” and “Apps” On New Tab Page

VersionĀ 29.0.1547.76 of Google Chrome introduced a new type of page for the New Tab that features a new experience with search. Many people are complaining about this update. Before this update, you could switch between a “Most Visited” page that showed thumbnails for your most visited websites and the “Apps”, “Other Devices” and “Recently Closed” options. If you liked the way Google Chrome was before, you can bring back the “Most Visited” and “Apps” options with this fix.

Note: A lot of people hated this upgrade because you could not delete the website thumbnails from the New Tab screen. This has been changed with an update to version 30.

1. Open Google Chrome.

2. Type chrome://flags in the address bar, then press Enter.

3. Scroll to the setting that says Enable Instant Extended API. If you can’t find it, press the F3 key, then type “extended” and it will take you right to the line.

4. Switch the dropdown menu over to Disabled.
