Samsung Galaxy Tab 4: Steps For Hard Reset

A hard reset will reset the Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 back to factory default settings. You would perform these steps if you want the device prepared to sell or return to the store, but you may also want to perform a hard reset if there are problems with the device that you can’t seem to solve using any other method.

Method 1: From Startup

  1. With the device off, press and hold the “Volume Up“, “Home“, and “Power” buttons.
  2. Release the buttons when you see the recovery screen and the Samsung logo.
  3. Use the volume buttons to navigate the menu and select “wipe data / factory reset“. Press “Home” to choose the highlighted selection.
  4. On the next screen, press “Volume Up” to continue.

Method 2: From Software Menus

  1. With the device started, open “Apps” > “Settings“.
  2. Select the “General” tab.
  3. Select “Backup and reset
  4. Tap “Factory data reset“.
  5. Check the “Format SD Card” option if desired. This option will erase data on the SD card data like your photos and music.
  6. Tap “Reset device“.

The Galaxy Tab 4 should then go through the hard reset process.

hi , my daughter set a access pass code for my samsung tablet 10.2 and forgot the code , is there anyway to retrieve the photos from this device? I really hate to loose these photos ,with a system reset
Is there somewhere I could take it to that could have it done?’
I mean they do it in the movies , seriously though thank you for any help you may be able to provide

I’ve tried both methods multiple times to no avail. In holding the power, up volume, and home keys method I am not sure I am even reaching the “recovery screen”. I see a screen and I release but I get no menu from which to navigate using the volume button. It simply reboots into safe mode. In safe mode it also shows I have no installed apps. Any suggestions?
