Here are some things to try if your iPod touch is frozen and not responding.
Force quit program: Press and hold the Home button until the program you are using exits.
Turn it off: Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button until the red slider appears. Drag the slider. Then press and hold the Sleep/Wake button until the Apple logo appears.
Reset iPod Touch: Press and hold Sleep/Wake + Home until the Apple logo appears.
Reset all iPod settings: On the Home screen choose Settings > General > Reset Reset All Settings.
Erase everything: On the Home screen tap Settings > General > Reset > Erase All Content and Settings.
Hopefully with these steps, your iPod Touch responds and is now fixed.

Thanks man my ipod was not working for a very long time but then i came on your webpage and it helped me out alot. Now i have a working ipod and never worry about it again
Holy S**t, Sean, thank you sooo much. I had the same oroblem Miranda did, except I could turn up the volume. Right after I used your advice, it worked and it’s back to normal.
To all ipod touch users -
if your ipod is frozen with no touch screen response and volume and timer still moves than try this -
mine as i type this is frozen as well.and this method here does nothing…same boat your in im sure. however one thing will guaranteed shut it down so you can reboot. that’s to let your battery die. make sure to not have it plugged in lol. im doing this now myself with 100% battery charge lmao sucks. will report back 2morrow with results.

how can i close my ipod…if my screen is frozen? :S i cant slide the bar at the bottom.. my volume doesnt work either… it charges when i plug it on my itunes or on my charger.

Can someone please help me????? I plugged my ipod into itunes,and tried to figure out how to download them. but then, when i unplugged my ipod, it had a frozen screen. its frozen with a plug, and a disk with a music note on it. idk wat to do!!!! i tried to restore it, but there was an error. can someone please please please help me??? I’m leaving on vaca tomorrow!! i need it fixed, pleaseeeeeeeeee it wud mean a lot.

My ipod is frozen. When I tryed to shut it down the cancle button and the turn off button come up but it wont respond to touching or sliding. I made sure the buttons still work and they do. So it seems that my ipod wont respond to any touch and now I cant even get back to the home screen. Can you pls help me I’m real worried and if this is bad I cant afford to fix it.
