Droid RAZR: Change or Disable Email Notification Ringtone

There’s nothing like being woken up by your phone in the middle of the night because your phone is set to make a sound when you receive an email. You can disable or change the ringtone your Verizon Motorola Droid RAZR makes when an email arrives by using these steps.

1. Open the Email app.

2. Compose a new message, then tap Menu Droid RAZR menu button.

3. Tap Email settings.

4. Select Notifications.

5. Uncheck the Notifications box if you wish to not receive any type of notifications. Otherwise, you can tap Select ringtone and set it to Silent to disable it, or select a different rigntone.

Didn’t work. There is no menu such as this in Yahoo! mail. I just want to keep the notifications from appearing in the top menu bar, and I don’t want the vibrate.

  2. Mitch says

It shouldn’t change anything for your text notification. That’s controlled from the text messaging app.

    Quick question—-

Turning this off from your email setting— does it affect Text notification at the same time??

Normally when you hit MENU-then SETTINGS—then SOUND SETTINGS, that path seems to turn ALL notification sounds off. Is this actually a work-around for that?? If so— YOU ROCK DUDE!!

Open Gmail account- tap on “MENU”- Select “more”-Select “settings” Select one account. go to the bottom of the page and select “label notifications and click “inbox” there is the option to select ring tone and vibration choice and notify only one time option. Make sure you select ok for all window closing, otherwise it will not take effect.
You have to do the same for other accounts, if you have more then one.
