Recently I noticed that my Motorola Droid was automatically mounting the SD card whenever I plugged the device into my computer. I thought I accidentally changed a setting within the Android OS or perhaps there was an update I was unaware of that enabled this. I searched high and low for a setting in that triggered this and found nothing. Eventually, I gave up and just let it be.
Fast-forward to today when I was fumbling with the Winamp app and came across a setting that said Enable auto-mount. Who knew that settings within an app could cause such a thing?
If this is happening to you and you would like auto-mount disabled, Open Winamp, then press Menu > Settings and uncheck the Enable auto-mount setting.
If you don’t have Winamp installed, you may have another app that has this setting. The DoubleTwist app enables this feature as well.
