Droid 2: Calendar Won’t Sync

Users of the Verizon Motorola Droid 2 smartphone are reporting that the Google Calendar isn’t syncing up with their device. Luckily there is a little workaround you can perform to fix the issue.

Option 1

1. From the Home screen press Menu.

2. Select Settings.

3. Select Applications.

4. Select Manage applications.

5. Tap Calendar Storage.

6. Tap Clear data.

See if your Google Calendar syncs now. If it doesn’t sync after about 15 minutes, try option 2 below.

Option 2

1. Have another Google account ready to use as a “dummy account” to be added to the device. Use a friend’s or create one.

2. Add the new account under Settings > Accounts & sync > Add account.

3. The Sync Contacts, Sync Gmail and Sync Calendar options should now appear under both accounts. Let the Droid 2 sit for about 5 minutes.

4. Delete the “dummy account” by tapping it on the Accounts & sync screen and selecting Remove account.

Your Google Calendar should now be synced with your original account on the Phone.

Thanks so much. the droid hasnt synced properly since last year. your fix worked!!!! i cannot thank you enough.

  2. Tim says

I fixed mine using the Power Control Widget. Once I put it on the screen it was evident that the sync was turned off. I simply turned it on and everything works fine. Syncs all of my Google emails and calendars.

  3. Muffie says

I have my Google calendar synced to my Droid X2 so that when I add an event online in my Google Calendar, it will appear on my Droid calendar automatically. However, I typically add/modify events from my phone, and when I do that (add a calendar event on my Droid), it doesn’t appear on my online Google Calendar. Is there some way I can add/modify calendar events from my Droid phone and have it transfer to my Google Calendar (would be nice as a backup!)? Thanks!

  4. Bruce says

Just went through all of this, but no fix. Went through it for an hour on the phone with Verizon techs. No answers. Sucks.

  5. Marshall says

I can get the infomation from outlook to Gmail then gmail to phone but I can not get from phone to gmail or compouter. When I open the phone calendar and look at the setting everything is synced and visibal EXCEPT the phone calender. ir shows as “not synced ,visible”.
When I set up the computer outlook I have it “2 way” setting tagged.
    Need help

I have a Droid 2 Global. I did everything above with no luck. Ended up going to Settings –> Applications –> Manage Applications –> All tab –> Calendar Sync Adapter –> Force Stop
Then go to Settings –> Accounts –> Google –> Sync Now

  7. lamar skarda says

Yeah. The second option worked for me. I figured the sync box would be on my dummy account but it was on the one I neened it on and was not on the dummy acct. Go fugure.. great help, thanks.

  8. Sandy says

Didn’t work for me. My calendar is syncing with my computer but not the other way around. I need to figure out how to get the appointments I enter on my phone to show on my computer calendar.

  9. Mike says

You are my hero! I have been so frusturated with this, tried option one in the past but just tried option two and voila! it worked took like 5 second (on wifi) to sync my calander! Hooray! Yippee! W00T! Score!

  10. jeff says

neither of these options worked for me. the sync calendar option does not appear under either account.

  11. Scott says

It worked!!!! I was getting so frustrated but option 2 finally worked. I wish I had found this page hours ago. Thanks for your help.

  12. Nigel says

I had the same problem for a few days. I have a Droid 2 Global. I did everything above with no luck. I eventually deleted all my 3rd party calender apps (Smooth Calender was the problem) and then it worked. So if the above solution doesn’t work try deleting your calender apps.

  13. Stephanie says

My calendar is synced from computer to Droid2 but biggest problem it only shows ONE appointment and not the two or three that might be on my calendar on the computer!

  14. Dennis says

I also cannot add events from my phone. When I click add events it just goes back to the calendar. Any ideas?

  15. ASC says

sorry but I do not get the option Sync Calendar for either step. Have I missed a set up somehow please? All help greatly appreciated!

  16. Shante says

Thanks! The 2nd option worked for me! I just love the Internet and now I can say that I love my DROID 2! :)
