Disable the Firefox Prefetch Setting

Did you know that Firefox has a feature called “prefetch” that caches pages that it thinks you are going to click on? This can slightly slow down system performance when browsing the web. Fortunately, you can disable prefetch in Firefox by using these steps.

  1. Type “about:config” in the address bar and press “Enter“.
  2. Select the “I’ll be careful, I promise” button if prompted.
  3. Locate and double-click the entry for “network.prefetch-next“.
  4. Set it to “false“to disable this feature. Double-clicking on the setting will change it.
