Cuil Search Engine Lost Me On First Impression

So there’s a story out about this Cuil site that former Google engineers created. So I figured I’d give it a try. I looked at the Info page and it seems they kind of slam all other search engines for not advancing.

“Welcome to Cuil—the world’s biggest search engine. The Internet has grown. We think it’s time search did too.

The Internet has grown exponentially in the last fifteen years but search engines have not kept up—until now. Cuil searches more pages on the Web than anyone else—three times as many as Google and ten times as many as Microsoft.”

OK, great. So I try my first search for the term “reset ipod nano” to see what it turns up. The image below speaks for itself.

Cuil error message

Sorry Cuil, but if you can’t even handle my search, I don’t think I’ll be using you. If your engineers are too dumb to make sure everything works fine when you get a lot of traffic, you are too dumb to be finding the right pages for me. Let alone compete with Google or Microsoft.
