Convert Video Files For Use on Wii

In order to be able to view video from an SD Card on your Wii, the video has to be formatted properly. If your Wii will not read your video, you can use Wii Video to convert the video file into a format that the Wii can read. Here’s how.

1. Download and install Wii Video.

2. Run the software. There are quite a bit of advertisements, but just ignore those. Click Convert then Select File. Pick the file you wish to convert and then click Next.

3. Give the file a title, and then click the Start Converting button.

4. The conversion process starts. Wait for it to finish. It can take a while. On my Pentium 4 3.2Ghz, it took 10 minutes for a 25MB file.

5. When the conversion finishes, you will have a file created that the Wii can read. The default location it puts this file in is at C:\Documents and Settings\username\My Documents\Converted Videos\Wii\MJPEG. Take the file from that folder and put it on the memory card you are using. Your Nintendo Wii should be able to read it the file now.
