Firefox has been locking up on me lately. I get to a point in my day where I have more than 8 tabs open and it just freezes. I can’t switch to another window or another tab in Firefox.
One of my tabs is usually Yahoo Mail since I like to check my email throughout the day. I noticed Yahoo pages serve a lot of animated Flash ads and they were animating very slowly. I found these ads have been the culprit in slowing Firefox as well as my machine down quite a bit.
So what do I do? Uninstall Flash and suffer when I need it to play games or whatever? Well I found a workaround, albeit it’s not practical. Everytime one of these ads load and start locking up things, I can right-click on the Flash ad and select Quality > Low.

Doing this has made makes problem with Firefox go away immediately. However, I have to do this each time the problematic ad loads. Annoying, but a workaround for now.

The tools available in Gmail by far trump the tools in any other web based email system. My problem is that I have been using Yahoo Mail for years. Friends and family will forever send to my Yahoo account as they have for the past 10 years. I recently decided though that Yahoo no longer has a place in my heart. I would officially migrate to Gmail. I was relieved to find that I could manage my Yahoo Mail through Gmail. Here’s how it’s done.
1. Login to Gmail and click on the Settings link in the upper right corner.
2. Click on the Accounts tab under the Settings area.
3. Here you can click to Add another mail account.

Everybody sells on eBay now, and chances are that your auction will compete with many others for the sale. You need to gain an edge and make your auction look better than every other auction that’s selling that same old Dukes of Hazard ash tray. Taking the time to optimize your eBay auctions can pay off at the end of the auction.
1. Make the most of the title
The #1 mistake I see eBay sellers make is with the title. What every seller should know is that you don’t make the title of your auction simply the name of the item. In fact it shouldn’t be treated as a title at all. This is where you use search terms for your item. You want to use words that people are likely to search for on eBay.
Instead of:
Super Nintendo Gaming Console
Use:
SNES Super Nintendo Video Game Console NES
This way you will gain audience from people searching for SNES, Super Nintendo or even the older NES. Who knows, maybe that person searching for an NES will decide to but your SNES.
You can even purchase a subtitle if you need more than 55 characters.
2. Get to the point
Keep your item description brief. Nobody cares to read about your business. The people that use those fancy borders and graphics are also missing out on people that only have a 56K connection which most web users are still on by the way. The more a potential bidder has to scroll down the page to read your babble, the worse off your auction is.
If you have too many terms and conditions, nobody is going to bother reading them, or bidding on your item for that matter. You lose trust if you have too many stipulations.

Can’t get to MySpace from work because it’s blocked? Here’s something you can try.
Many of my friends are constantly searching for ways to get to MySpace from their workplace because they have been blocked. MySpace is the most commonly blocked web site on the net. I have recently introduced them all to proxy servers such as the one here.
A proxy server like this one can communicate with MySpace, or any other site and redirect everything back to you instead of your computer directly trying to access MySpace or whatever site you like. Thus allowing your computer to see pages at MySpace.com. Unless your work has the proxy server address blocked, you usually can usually use this method. You can search on Google for “myspace proxy” and find a great deal of other proxy servers you can use as well.
Another method I have told people to use is to get a remote control account such as GoToMyPC account or a free LogMeIn account. Using such a service allows users to access their home computer from work. The home computer then can be used to get to MySpace since your workplace can’t block the web sites your home computer visits. In addition to being able to view MySpace pages, the remote control software will allow you to access all the resources on your home PC as well.

How to redirect a certain web page a visitor is viewing to the root directory or home page of your site.
Insert the following code into your .htaccess file in the root directory of your web site:
rewritecond %{THE_REQUEST} ^.*\/index\.html?
RewriteRule ^(.*)index\.html?$ http://www.technipages.com/$1 [R=301,L]
OR
rewritecond %{THE_REQUEST} ^[A-Z]{3,9}\ /.*index\.html?\ HTTP/
RewriteRule ^(.*)index\.html?$ http://www.technipages.com/$1 [R=301,L]
This example redirects users that visit http://www.technipages.com/index.html back to the root directory of my site at http://www.technipages.com. Of course you will have to change this code to reflect what you wish to do with your web site.
