Can’t Cut/Copy and Paste From Firefox
Posted by Mitch on Dec 21, 2007 under Blog, Firefox Tips | 18 CommentsThis week I’ve experienced a problem with Firefox after the updated they have been pushing. I was unable to cut, copy and paste from Firefox. I couldn’t copy URL’s, text from web pages or anything. I started Firefox in Safe Mode and the problem was gone. It appears that my StumbleUpon Add-on was causing the issue. Once I disabled it, the problem went away when I started Firefox in normal mode.
I have been regularly running into these problems with Firefox lately. I would blame the add-on developers, but other plug-ins have stopped working with each Firefox update. It’s starting to influence me to switch back to IE.
I also had this problem …….after disabling microsoft.net framework assistant problem was resolved. Paul
I also had the firefox Copy/paste problem; read about disabling the yahoo add on within firefox. on my laptop it worked fine afterwards, thanks to “Cody’s” advice. Thanks again.
For me to fix it, I hit “tools”, “add-ons”, and disabled Google’s toolbar for Firefox and that fixed it. Thanks for the direction I found here!
Yahoo add on disable all fixed thamks
well, well, well, It is definitely an add-on problem, mine was a $tupid “shockwave flash” add-on. So, what I would do guys is: I would go trough every add-on and disable them one by one and see which is the one causing the problem, by the way, FIREFOX STILL KICKS A$$
Hi,
I had the same bug, I checked my add on’s and found “ask toolbar” I uninstalled it and now it’s working fine. So yeah just uninstall your add on’s one by one and see which add on is causing it.
I got sick to death of this problem so went searching for an answer and found it on this very page.
All I had to do was go to TOOLS, click on Add-ons and disable the yahoo toolbar.
Easy as.
Been cutting & pasting to my hearts content ever since.
I disables the “ASK” toolbar add-on and was able to copy & past text in firefox (Facebook in particular) again.
I found that the add on Yahoo toolbar is what caused this for me I removed it and now it works fine
I disabled or uninstalled all add-ons but still can’t copy and paste
Framework 1.1 was doing it for me. I disabled it and the menu is now fine. You can still do ctrl+c and ctrl+v though regardless if menu is working or not.
Firefox used to be a kick a$$ browser now is a stink a$$ one! It’s slower and less stable than safari.
Sure in firefox you can customize features through extensions, but what’s the use if it makes you waste your time trying to look-up fixes to problems that should not be there? You just end up with a customized garbage.
I have the SAME problem. Never figured it out so I’ve been spending hours retyping stuff. Firefix has really gone DOWNhill in the last 12 months.
I disabled SEO For Firefox(v3.1.0) and the problem with not being able to paste in Firefox went away.
firefox does run fast and everything but it sux when u cant copy and paste it…
yeah!!id like to no,how do you copy and paste on this thing..let me no will you?please and thanks this bites!!!
Disable all your add-on’s and restart ff then one by one re-able them and restart ff find out which one is causing the problem
I encounter the same problem. Have you sought a way out?
