Canon Pixma MX340: Scan Documents (Windows)

It took me a bit of time to figure out how to scan documents using my new Canon Pixma MX340 printer. The instructions aren’t located in the physical manual. I finally figured out how to do it though after a few hours of playing with it.

1. Install the MP Navigator EX software located on the disc that came with the printer.

2. Go to Start > Programs > Canon Utilities > MP Navigator EX > MP Navigator EX.

3. Select Photos/Documents or Stack of Documents.

4. If Photos/Documents was selected, open the top of the scanner and place the document you wish to scan on the glass with the top facing to the left. If Stack of Documents was selected, flip the plastic tray open on the top of the printer and place the stack of papers in the tray.

5. Select the Document Type in the left pane, then click the Scan button.

6. The scanning process should start. When it’s finished, select Save to save the document(s) as a JPEG, or select Save as PDF to save it in PDF format.

Thanks for the Scanning instructions. If I am able to scan multiple pages as one document I will be able to use an internet faxing program without having an unnecessary phone & modem installed in my home.

I can’t get the scanner to scan multiple page documents as one file. If its a 5 page document I get five separate documents. Even using the document feeder. What am I doing wrong?

Hi Mitch, I’d like to thank you for posting this helpful information about scanning. My question and concern is that I can not find the disc that came with the printer, would like to know is there another way to scan without the disc. if you have any suggestions i’m open.

    Thanks For Your Help,
    Malkia

Once the document is scanned, you can click the “Save as PDF” button, then make sure that PDF is selected for “Save as type” (not the option for multiple pages.)

Did you find out if it was possible to scan a stack of documents but save each page as an individual file?

  9. Lori says

Doesn’t this scanner have the capability to detect multiple images on the scanner bed and save them as separate files?
