What a cool tip this is! I hated that the BlackBerry Storm shared the same application for SMS text messages and email messages. I found a setting where you can set them to be different applications.

Messages and SMS applications are seperate.

1. From the main screen, press Menu.

2. Open the Messages application.

3. Select Menu > Options.

4. Set SMS and Email Inboxes to Separate.

SMS and Email Inboxes setting

5. Press Menu > Save.

  3. [...] Enable separate app for SMS text messages – Don’t like your email crammed in with text messages? Separate them by going to Messages > Menu > Options > SMS and Email Inboxes > Separate. [...]

    Dave,

Also there are some themes that don’t support it. If you can’t get this feature to work, try switching your theme as well as switch it to SEPARATE.

dave, read point 4 again. it says to set it to “separate” not “theme controlled”

Didn’t do anything to resolve the issue on my Storm. Maybe if you have a theme installed that seperates messages. But just changing to “Theme Controlled” by itself does nothing.

Thank you for the tip. It resolved my issue. Have a nice day :-)
