People that are new to smartphones may not be familiar with the interface enough to figure out how to send a text message. Here’s how you can do it on the BlackBerry Bold 9700 smartphone.

1. From the main screen, press Menu.

2. Tap the SMS application. If it’s not listed, Tap Messages.

3. Press Menu.

4. Tap Compose SMS.

5. Select a contact or key in the phone number you wish to send your message to.

6. Type your message.

7. Press Menu > Send when ready.
