Asus Transformer Prime Won’t Turn On – Fix

Users of the Asus Transformer Prime tablet are often hit with a problem where the device won’t turn on. If you’re experiencing the same problem, we have some steps you can try.

First, it may seem simple, but make sure you have charged the Transformer Prime properly. If you’ve just purchased the device, it’s recommended that you charge it for at least 8 hours before turning it on the first time. Charge it using the wall adapter, not your computer as charging via USB can take much longer.

Also ensure that you are pressing and holding the Power button to turn it on. Tapping it once without holding it will not turn it on.

If you are sure you have enough battery power and you are doing everything properly, try the following steps:

1. Press and hold the Volume Down button, then press and hold the Power button.

2. Continue to hold both buttons until the screen powers on. Once you see an image on the screen, let go of the buttons.

3. Press the Volume Up button. The device should power on normally.

If none of these steps worked for you, you may want to contact Asus. The device may need to be sent in for repairs.

What bothers me is that this is not in the manual (I have the Asus Transformer T200). It worked pressing and holding power, then press and hold volume-up as you stated. After this step, I pressed volume down. Now, in November 2014, you would think this would have been addressed. Thank you for the post.

    Hi Again,
I have now held the down volume button and the power button at the same time again, this time I got the righting top left and the 2 options in the middle, I have now tried both options, with no success, I also tried sticking a pin in the restart hole of the left hands side of the screen no luck.
Did I also say I cant shut it down with out pushing the up volume button and the power button. At least it now seems to stay turned of before it would just start up by itself.

Pressing the volume down button, then holding down the Power button did restart my Asus TP tablet. Thanks.
I wonder why it wouldn’t power up in the first place. I did just buy and dock it to its keyboard yesterday. I’ll back it up before I redock again.

Disassembling the plug, gently pushing a finger between the two wire loops, and then reassembling the plug solved the “not charging” problem for me.
